Putnam City Schools

Putnam City Public Schools in Bethany, Oklahoma, has purchased 37 Thomas Built Buses Type C Conventionals from Midwest Bus Sales, Inc. over the past two years. Eleven of those bus purchases were equipped for special needs students. The new buses were also equipped with two-way radios and video monitoring cameras.

Putnam City is a metropolitan school district that services Oklahoma City, Bethany and Warr Acres. They operate a fleet of 130 school buses, with about 75% of the fleet manufactured by Thomas Built Buses, to provide transportation for up to 8,000 students each school day.

“The most important thing for us is durability,” said Kim Hamilton, director of transportation for Putnam City Public Schools. “We keep buses a long time and Thomas Built Buses are well built. That’s a plus for us. No other manufacturer can outlast Thomas’s longevity. Thomas buses also have exceptional turning radius, stability and riding conditions that you can’t beat.”
